EB Scrappers Friday Challenge + Caitlyn's hair

Well, here's my take on the challenge - was pretty easy because I had this layout almost done anyway! LOL! Here are the specs:
  • Must contain the colour orange : tag on brown petals, all petals under green have been inked orange & orange paper clip!!
  • Title has to be a song : Song is Queen "You're my best friend"
  • At least 2 photos : yup!
  • Have hidden journaling : lyrics of song behind the smaller photo - forgot to take a pic of the flap open!

Didn't take photos, but Caitlyn and Toby got up to mischief today with my cordless hair clippers... I'm kicking myself for leaving them in reach of Toddler Toby REALLY dumb! So Toby has helped 'thin' Caitlyn's hair on one side. I'll take piccies tomorrow morning and then try and "fix" it... Needless to say both myself and hubby aren't impressed.

Heck of a day!

I'm just so tired! Today was very very busy. I've been here there and everywhere sorting out the magnets for the remaining coasters. They're sent to Miracle Babies and should get there tomorrow by express post, but still have another day if needed. Put my hand up to make some more for the school for the Father's day stall *rolleyes*. I'm a glutton for punishment.

Oh, and tip of the day? A Cheerios box is about the right thickness of cardboard for a coaster! LOL

AWESOME effort!!

The wonderful Scrappers at Essential Baby came through for me and this is the stash of Father's Day coaster-fridge-magnets we'll be sending off to Miracle Babies for their gift baskets. 49 are expected to go to MB in total (46 are pictured below). I even had enough to keep one for Grandpa for my kids!Thank you everyone who contributed! Cordelia, Dizzy, Col, Jesse, Kimley, Debbie, & Kirsti all contributed. Thank you for donating your time and materials to bring some happiness to the parents of premmie babies!

I'm always looking for parent related causes to donate scrapped items to - message me, email or here, if you know of a cause to which we can contribute. Acting as coordinator for these things is soooo fulfilling!

This is for a 3AS challenge - something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Can you guess who it is in the picture??

ICK!

This sucks! My eyes are all gunky and I was looking forward to doing a scrap-night at my sister-in-law's place on Friday. Now I can't go because I don't want to give anything to her or her little girl. Not impressed! Also not impressed cos I'll have to be super vigilant with hand washing and tissues to avoid infecting anyone else... More hand-cream!

Not a potter

Just not a potter: in July 2004, I took up pottery for a scrap challenge set by Ngaire Bartlam in For Keeps. It was called "a skill I'd like to master". My dreadful attempts are pictured with a slab pot I did in yr 8. Not much improvement!

playing with pictures

Okay so I'm experimenting with Photoshop a bit and this is what I've come up with... This one I took yesterday - close up of new growth on my rose bush and adjusted saturation particularly the red and dimmed the green a little. This one I took in June of the amazing huge liquid amber in our backyard. It was raining, so it didn't look nearly as striking originally, but I've enhanced the brightness & contrast and then adjusted the saturation, first of the entire image and then of the red-tones.
Pretty pleased with the results!

Molly arrived - new shoes - birthday invites...

And here she is on my favourite window sill: what a spunk! Thanks Cat!
So, I went shoe shopping today - here's my almost 5 year old pair that I've worn pretty constantly for the last 5 years...And here's my new pair! I know they look almost exactly the same, but you know what? They are brilliant shoes! Cost a bit, but worth it. Most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever tried. Walk On brand - Aussie made!
So, someone asked me to make a digital invitation for their daughter's first birthday - this is what I came up with:Inspired, I did this one for Caitlyn!

Autumn Dreaming

Love the title, love the journaling, love the photo and the flowers... But not real sure about the rest... (updated)

Thanks for the inspiration Clair!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Clair! I think you're responsible for improving my scrapping out of sight by giving me tips on "popping" my photos via the 3 Angels photography forum. Every time I go to edit a photo in Photoshop - I think to myself "I'll just 'Clair-ify' it a bit". LOL! Also very inspired by your amazing scrapping and photography too! So, THANK YOU! *mwah*

Why I scrap

My layout for the Book of Me theme at Essential Baby. This one took me ages! Ribbon wound around a chipboard frame....

New title!

8 random things

I've been tagged by Tracey - thanks sweetpea! so here goes:

1-Post these rules.

2-Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves.

3-Taggees should write a blogpost of these facts.

4- At the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named and released back into the wild.

5-Go to their blog and leave a comment telling them they're tagged*.

So here are my 8 random things:
  1. I changed the name of my blog today! :)
  2. My paternal grandfather was a political exile in Kazakhstan and was one of the early teachers of the Bekova Trio
  3. I have no knuckle on the little finger of my right hand - the metacarpal & proximal phalanx bones are short
  4. I can't bear the smell of jonquils though I love the look of them
  5. I have tinnitis in both ears and hear a combination of low static and loud 'pings'
  6. I love to watch any sort of crime TV show British or US or Aussie - favourites include Criminal Minds, Medium, SVU and CI, Wire in the Blood, Rosemary & Thyme, Inspector Morse, and Prime Suspect
  7. I had a benign bone tumour (osteoid osteoma) removed from my left tibia (shin) 8 years ago
  8. I read Terry Pratchett Discworld books over and over again as my 'switch-off' time before bed.

Finish touches on crop day

My day at Scrapframes went really well and these are what I came up with - I also spent far too much money, but SHHHHH don't tell DH! This one is using the Samantha kit designed by Sarah for Scrapframes:
This one is another using Dee's RAK - so that's 4 pages I've got out of that kit! :)
And here's my Harry Potter Widower layout, finally! That's me, asleep!
